A Confined Space is an enclosed space that typically has only one entry or exit.  Each province has different definitions for what a confined space is, but in general, Confined Spaces are enclosed spaces with limited access.  A Confined Space is dangerous because hazardous levels of toxic gases can build up.

In any job site, it is important to identify the Confined Spaces and make sure that all workers entering and exiting the spaces are trained.  A rescue plan must also be implemented.

Confined Spaces can also contain hazards from electrical systems, moving parts, chemical hazards, and human-caused hazards.

It is important to wear proper PPE when entering a confined space, and to control the hazards wherever possible.
